So unless you've had your head in the sand, you would've noticed that The MET GALA 2017 has passed. I'm not sure about you, but every year I am fascinated by the mere range of designs and interpretations of the themes. The first MET GALA that I was actively engaged in was in 2014, now I know that doesn't qualify me to be a MET GALA analyst, however, that is what I have found myself doing every year since.
Perhaps it is the fact that I studied both Art&Design and Drama that I can appreciate importance of a brief, in this case, theme. This year, the theme was 'Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons'. Like many others I'm sure, neither the designer nor the title of the show held no significance to me personally, but, as I was interested, I decided to put the internet to good use and research what this theme would entail. Unfortunately, it was evident that many a celebrity did not follow suit and instead decided to dress, quite frankly, in any old frock they could find last minute. It seemed as though no one really made an effort to follow the theme and celebrate the creativity of Kawakubo or even take inspiration from her many marvellous works. To be quite frank, I was infuriated by how lazy they were! (If you don't believe me, my family can vouch for my rage that night...sorry Troops!)
I must give credit where credit is due though. Rihanna came thru and embodied everything that the night was meant to be, I mean if you don't share my opinion...actually no. I'm sticking to my opinions- @badgalriri SAVED THE NIGHT!!! Just look and see for yourselves.
And because every magazine, paper etc has already shared all the looks from the night, I thought the following perfectly summed up how I felt looking at the different outfits.
